Hrvatske Autoceste d.o.o. (HAC), as the data controller, is carrying out testing of the equipment and functionalities of the new Crolibertas electronic toll collection system, which is being introduced across the entire motorway network in the Republic of Croatia, including the concession areas operated by BINA ISTRA d.d. and Autocesta Zagreb-Macelj d.o.o.
The full implementation of the Crolibertas system involves a complex process of testing the system's functional elements and components, as well as the availability of individual functionalities under real-world conditions. This is intended to ensure that, once the system goes live, toll collection will be fully operational under free-flow traffic conditions, without vehicles having to stop.
Testing includes verifying the reading of ETC devices, recognising vehicle registration plates and determining vehicle categories required for toll calculation. Due to the system's technical characteristics and complexity, testing under actual traffic conditions is necessary to ensure the technical reliability and functionality of the new toll collection system.
When a vehicle passes beneath a toll gantry, its ETC device (if present in the vehicle) is read, which may be accompanied by an audible signal. A photograph of the vehicle passing through is also taken, showing its registration plate and vehicle model.
Please note that HAC does not collect any additional categories of personal data compared to those collected under the existing toll collection system at toll plazas when vehicles enter and exit the motorway.
The collected data is used exclusively for the purposes of implementing the Crolibertas system and is not linked to user data from the existing toll collection system.
The processing is based on HAC's legitimate interest in carrying out the technical checks necessary for the implementation of the system. Testing on behalf of HAC is carried out by the business consortium SkyToll a.s. and TollNet a.s., acting as data processors. The data is processed in a strictly isolated and controlled testing environment, with restricted access and appropriate technical and organisational security measures in place.
Testing will continue until the new Crolibertas toll collection system is fully implemented.
For questions regarding the processing of personal data or to exercise your rights, you may contact HAC's Data Protection Officer at SluzbenikZaZOP@hac.hr. SluzbenikZaZOP@hac.hr.
